Our volunteer program includes both flexible, community-based roles and opportunities for more direct engagement with those we serve. As a volunteer, you’ll gain access to training, mentorship, and a supportive, trauma-informed environment centered on survivor care.
Tier 1: Ambassador Volunteers
Ambassador Volunteers support Cleveland Rape Crisis Center through community engagement, awareness, and event-based opportunities. This pathway is a great way to get involved, learn about our mission, and make an impact with a flexible level of commitment.
Volunteer opportunities may include:
- Assisting with community events and outreach activities
- Supporting awareness campaigns and resource distribution
- Helping with event setup, coordination, and engagement
- Representing CRCC at community-based initiatives

- Ideal for individuals looking to get involved or explore volunteer opportunities before committing to a more consistent role
Many volunteers begin as Ambassadors and choose to grow into more involved roles over time.
Tier 2: Trauma-Informed Volunteers
Trauma-Informed Volunteers support the work of Cleveland Rape Crisis Center across multiple programs and departments. These roles offer meaningful, hands-on experience in a survivor-centered environment while building practical skills.
Volunteer opportunities may include:
- Client Services Support (CSS) – assisting at front desks, helping create a welcoming environment, and providing administrative support to client service teams
- Client Engagement (CES) – supporting engagement and services at our human trafficking drop-in center
- Education & Outreach – assisting with prevention programming and community education efforts
- Fundraising & Development – supporting events, campaigns, and donor engagement
Additional details:
- Requires additional training in trauma-informed care
- Consistent schedule and commitment preferred
- Ideal for individuals seeking deeper involvement or experience in nonprofit or social service work
This pathway is a great next step for volunteers looking to deepen their involvement and gain hands-on experience across our programs.
Tier 3: Crisis Response Volunteer
Crisis Response Volunteers provide direct, immediate support to survivors through Cleveland Rape Crisis Center’s 24/7 crisis hotline. This role is a critical part of our mission and requires a high level of training, commitment, and emotional readiness.
Volunteer responsibilities include:
- Answering hotline calls and providing trauma-informed support
- Offering crisis intervention, resources, and referrals
- Supporting survivors in moments of immediate need
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
Additional details:
- Advanced training required prior to placement
- Ongoing supervision and support provided
- Requires consistent scheduling and strong reliability
- Best suited for individuals prepared for direct crisis support work
This role is often pursued after gaining experience in other volunteer pathways but is open to those who are ready for this level of responsibility.
