A Message From Sondra Miller, President & CEO March 25, 2020
Dear Friends:
We are heartbroken to share that Sing Out! for Cleveland Rape Crisis Center, our signature benefit event, will be postponed to a date that is yet to be determined. In light of the current public health crisis, it is inconceivable that we would put our beloved volunteer chorale members at risk by starting our rehearsal schedule next month.
I am sorry to our volunteer leaders, including Co-Chairs Kathie Brandt and Michael Jeans and our Chorale Director Kathryn Harsha who have already invested hours and hours of preparation time. I am sorry to our chorale members who look forward to the sense of community that Sing Out! provides. I am sorry to all the individuals that have already stepped up and offered to help make this event a success. And I am sorry to the community that we will not have the opportunity to lift up survivors of rape and sexual abuse in the same way we have done over the past two decades.
Mostly, I am worried that the tough decision to postpone Sing Out! could have a negative impact on the survivors of rape and sexual abuse who count on our services and support for their healing. Our clients should not have to suffer any more than they already have.
The Board of Directors shares my commitment to ensure Cleveland Rape Crisis Center has the financial resources to maintain these services throughout this difficult time and beyond. We will be exploring alternative ways to share the spirit of Sing Out! later in the year. We are also asking our sponsors, donors and friends to continue your plans to pledge financial support to our mission.
Please make a donation to ensure that survivors of rape and sexual abuse in our community can continue to access critical services when they need it most.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We are grateful for all that you do to support survivors of rape and sexual abuse.
With gratitude,
Sondra Miller
