CRCC Advocates:

There is great news to share. At the last few staff meetings, you’ve heard me talk about the record number of grant applications that CRCC has been submitting. You’ve also heard me say that many of them are in response to increased funder interest in human trafficking. Our work on these applications is paying off!

In the last two weeks, CRCC has been notified that we successfully secured 3 new federal grants from the Office on Violence Against Women and the Office on Victims of Crime. Over time, you will see job postings and public announcements about the following:

– Program to enhance services to survivors who are deaf or hard of hearing, in partnership with the Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center

– Program to enhance services to victims of human trafficking reporting to the Cleveland Police Department and to train officers and detectives on trauma-informed responses

– Expanded services to survivors of human trafficking, including planning for the opening of a new drop-in center

There are still many, many details about all three of these projects to be worked out and many people from across the agency will be involved in bringing these services to fruition. All three projects are funded for 2020-2022. Additional fundraising will need to be done to cover the full costs of the projects.

Congratulations to the Grants & Contracts Team (Sarah, Wendy, Jinai and Eva) on this incredible success rate – WOW! Thank you to the program partners who supplied ideas, paperwork and information to make a successful submission.

Being awarded three grants is a sign of confidence from the federal government that CRCC is poised to innovate and implement high-quality services that help survivors who have the greatest needs. I can’t wait to see where these programs take us!
